R ecently, a panel discussion on ‘New Trends in Retail’ was hosted by Vanita Bhandari, the 50th president of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Ladies Wing. The event was held at the IMC headquarters in Mumbai.
Renowned retail industry experts, Tina Tahiliani Parikh, Gopi Vaid, Deepika Gehani, Avni Biyani and Nisha Khiani shared their success stories, personal experiences and prophecies of new trends that will shape the growth of the retail industry in the years to come.
Commenting on this, Bhandari said, “This event stems from the overwhelming response garnered from the IMC Women Entrepreneurs Exhibition. We got 600 applications (for the exhibition) and have only 200 stalls. This event is specifically to encourage the bank of young women entrepreneurs who want to grow in the retail industry”
The Indian retail industry has emerged as one of the most dynamic and fast-paced industries in the country. With the industry’s sudden transformation due to several new players, the retailers should adapt to new shifts in demographics, attitudes and consumer preferences.
